GreenCamp 1

This page is an archive from GreenCamp 1

GreenCamp Toronto 1 is happening tonight!!!

GreenCamp is gathering to discuss, learn and share our knowledge and experience of environmental innovation. It is about seeking tools to solve the problems that we are facing as individuals, communities and a species. It is about finding how these tools can be put to use. It is ultimately about what we can do.

I hoping have this be about innovation and problem-solving,and what we can do as business and NGOs.

Greencamp is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos, and interaction from participants. The format of GreenCamp is discussed here: GreenCamp Format.

What do you want out of GreenCamp?

The central theme in FlightFeather is computing resource conservation. Use of these resources translates directly into use of physical resources, such as electricity consumption of large server farms, environmental damage caused by the disposal of failed or obsolete machines, etc. Software designed with conservation in mind -- "green software" -- can have a real impact on reducing the pressure on the environment.
